I ordered 38 sheets of Saunders 140lb watercolor paper the other day ($120 worth of paper) while Dick Blick was running their 30% off sale. I accidentally ordered hot press instead of my standard cold press ;__;
Hot Press is more difficult to do smooth washes on it (which is counter-intuitive since it is the smoothest of the 3 kinds of watercolor paper) , but it does do interesting things. It is less predictable than cold press paper, and I think I might like that. You kind of have to wait until it dries to see what your final product will be.
But still…now I have to order more paper.
